Royal Expert Thinks Prince Harry’s UK Security Concerns Were a ‘Drama’

A royal expert believes that Prince Harry’s UK security concerns were nothing but “drama.” The statement follows the Duke’s fight for personal protection ahead of the Sussex family’s UK visit. Harry’s state-funded security ended in 2020 when he quit royal duties and relocated to North America with Meghan Markle.

Prince Harry can ‘slip in and out’ of the UK easily amid UK security concerns, expert claims

Prince Harry‘s recent trip to Britain has sparked the security row again. In the lead-up to his latest visit, the Duke of Sussex sought to fund his own 24/7 police cover, but RAVEC rejected it. Royal commentators have since cited his quiet meeting with King Charles in Gloucestershire as proof that he can travel safely without full protection.

The low-profile trip sparked criticism from commentators who are claiming that Prince Harry’s push over UK security has been overblown. Veteran reporter Richard Kay told Palace Confidential that the Sussexes arrived in Britain and left unseen. In his view, that weakens the argument that the 41-year-old prince is at special risk in the UK.

“Harry and Meghan can come in and depart the United Kingdom whenever they like,” Kay noted. “We don’t see photographs of them, unless they want to be photographed. They make such a drama about all of this, and yet the public don’t need to know.”

He further claimed that the visit shows that the Sussexes could avoid court fights over ‘wraparound’ police protection with a simpler approach. “By and large, they can slip in and out,’ reasoned the commentator.

“All this talk that Harry’s in danger and he needs this wraparound security, well, anonymity is the best form of security of all. No one can cause them harm. I know that sounds slightly glib, but I think it’s an important part of this whole package.”

Richard Kay also highlighted that the timing and point of arrival for the Duchess and the children remain unknown. To him, that is “absolute proof” that they can come to and leave the UK whenever they want.
