Matt Damon Finally Breaks Silence on the Daniels’ Mysterious Sci-Fi Movie

Matt Damon has spoken about his involvement in the Daniels‘ follow-up movie to Everything Everywhere All at Once for the first time. In May 2026, he joined the cast of the project as a replacement for Ryan Gosling.

Matt Damon addresses his mysterious new movie with the Daniels

Damon made a recent appearance on the Happy Sad Confused podcast to promote his new movie, The Odyssey. The host, Josh Horowitz, brought up the Good Will Hunting actor’s secret project with Daniel Kwan and Daniel Scheinert. Horowitz observed that Damon was soon adding the Daniels to his resume. As the Oscar winner confirmed, the interviewer enquired how “insane” the script read.

“It’s exactly what you’d hope,” Damon responded briefly, before adding, “It’s not like anything you’ve seen. I am really excited to work with them.”

Horowitz asked if it was another easy yes for Damon after Christopher Nolan and The Odyssey. “Yeah,” Damon said. “And it’s also just them. They’re just lovely people who have lovely things to say and want to put very positive vibes out into the world.” Horowitz then agreed that they really could use some.

Damon’s responses about the project are understandably evasive, given the secrecy and the interest surrounding it. As indicated above, this is the Daniels’ first movie since Everything Everywhere All at Once, which came out in 2022 and became a critical and commercial success. It also garnered seven Oscars at the 95th Academy Awards, including Best Picture, Best Director, and Best Original Screenplay.

Reports about the currently untitled movie first started circulating in February 2024. At the time, Universal Pictures set its release date for June 12, 2026. By October 2025, the movie had secured a new release date of November 19, 2027, which remains unchanged. Gosling’s involvement was reported in March 2026, but he deboarded the project the next month.

Much about the movie remains strictly under wraps. However, we do know that it’s a sci-fi feature. Additionally, it reportedly has a $150 million budget. Aside from Damon, the cast includes Sandra Oh, Sean Kaufman, Silvia Dionicio, and Charles Melton.
