It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia is preparing to return with its biggest season in years. The long-running comedy has officially announced its Season 18 premiere date. The upcoming season will once again follow the Gang as they dive into another round of increasingly outrageous misadventures.
It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia Season 18 release date set
Variety recently reported that It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia is officially returning this summer, with FX, FXX, and Hulu announcing that the comedy will premiere on August 17 at 9 p.m. ET. The upcoming season will also mark the series’s first 10-episode season since Season 14, after three consecutive seasons of eight episodes each.
Season 18 once again follows Charlie, Mac, Dennis, Dee, and Frank as they throw themselves into another string of outrageous situations. According to the official synopsis, the Gang becomes entangled in an inheritance dispute, struggles with workplace automation, confronts conspiracy theories, and attempts to improve its reputation by sponsoring a Little League baseball team.
“Not to mention battling nerds, LARPers, and a particularly petulant McPoyle clan at the Renaissance Faire or sportswashing their way back into the good graces of their community by sponsoring a Little League team. All the while trying to maintain order in their personal lives and at Paddy’s, which have become increasingly lawless and erratic,” the synopsis adds.
FX teased that Season 18 will feature “some of the series’ most outrageous moments yet.” It also promises “loads of star cameos” and references to both Philadelphia traditions and classic television comedies. Although the characters have grown older, the network notes that “their behavior is more out of control than ever,” adding, “Who said with age comes wisdom? That person sure is a jabroni.”
The series stars Rob McElhenney, Charlie Day, Glenn Howerton, Kaitlin Olson, and Danny DeVito, all of whom return for the new season.
