King Charles at Serious Disadvantage by Meghan Markle & Prince Harry Reunion — Expert

King Charles’ meeting with Prince Harry and Meghan Markle may have marked an emotional moment for the royal family. However, one royal expert believes it also carried significant public risks.

According to the commentator, the reunion may have benefited the Sussexes more than the monarch himself. As a result, the meeting is being viewed by some as a move that could ultimately reshape public perception of the king.

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry reunion makes King Charles ‘look weak,’ per expert

King Charles recently welcomed Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, along with Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, to Highgrove House. The gathering allegedly marked the king’s first meeting with his youngest grandchildren in more than four years.

Soon afterward, Buckingham Palace confirmed the visit had taken place. However, the Palace shared no photographs and described it only as a “private family occasion.”

Now, one expert believes the meeting may not have benefited the king. Speaking during a recent appearance on TalkTV, royal commentator Kinsey Schofield argued that the meeting may have ultimately weakened the king’s position. “I think that King Charles’s meeting with Prince Harry ultimately…makes him look weak,” Schofield claimed.

That said, the commentator also suggested the monarch’s motives may have been more personal than political. According to Schofield, Charles may have wanted to protect his long-term legacy. She claimed he was likely trying to show he had done everything possible to repair the relationship with his youngest son.

“I wonder if King Charles, legacy-wise, wants to be seen as the bigger person,” she said. Schofield then alleged that Harry and Markle “are never going to be,” adding that the king may have deliberately chosen to put past disagreements aside.

As a result, the expert believes Charles can now say he made the effort. In her view, the meeting allowed him to “tick the box” as a father who did not reject his son. She also thinks it gave him room to walk away if future attempts at reconciliation fail.

Still, Schofield argued that the move may have benefited the Sussexes more than the monarch. Per the expert, the meeting effectively gave Harry “the win that he needed,” implying that the duke gained more from the reunion in terms of public perception.
