Chloe Fineman announces she’s leaving SNL after 7 seasons
Chloe Fineman took to Instagram to share a series of photos and videos from her time on SNL. She also penned a lengthy message to announce her departure. While she didn’t disclose the exact reason, she claimed that she believes it’s time for her to move on to the next chapter.
“It’s cliche to say this but working at SNL has been the greatest privilege of my life. I still can’t really believe I got to be a part of it. I fell in love with the place the second I walked through the door. Lorne (if you’re reading this on your burner account) I want you to know that I am forever in your debt, ” she wrote.
She appreciated the people she had the opportunity to work with while recalling the memorable moments from the show. This included sewing a Jojo Siwa costume in 10 hours and writing a cold open on a weekend afternoon. She added that the memories are hitting her now as she looks back. This is because when someone is living through those moments, they don’t fully realize it at the time, as they are deeply invested in work.
She continued, “You sob uncontrollably when your sketch isn’t picked. You storm into a producers office telling them they just made the biggest mistake of their lives. You call everyone you know to complain. And then you look back a few years later and it was a sketch called “lipstick for thicc dogs.” She further reflected on how she poured everything into the show and on its ups and downs along the way.
Fineman added that it is “really hard” for her to leave SNL. However, she strongly believes it is the right time. While she said she will miss her time on the show, she described the people she worked with as “family” and said she will always remain close to them. “And I swear to God, one day, sometime in the future, they WILL make lipstick for thicc dogs,” she concluded.
