Prince Harry reportedly understands the complicated father-son dynamic between King Charles and Prince William better than anyone else. Not only that, the Duke of Sussex is not afraid to use this knowledge to his advantage. For those unversed, the Sussexes recently met King Charles at Highgrove House in a private reunion. However, he reportedly has not been in contact with his older brother, the Prince of Wales.
Insiders claim Harry understands how King Charles and Prince William see reconciliation differently
As per Rob Shuter‘s sources, Prince Harry knows how to leverage King Charles and Prince William’s differences to his advantage. One palace insider revealed: “Harry doesn’t just know where the weak spots are—he knows how to use them. He understands exactly where Charles and William see things differently, and he knows how to put them on opposite sides of the same issue. That’s where he has leverage.”
Sources shared that the differences became more apparent after Charles was diagnosed with cancer. William stepped into a greater leadership role before the King was able to return to work. Now, as per insiders, Harry’s recent private meeting with his father, the King, has only made his relationship with his elder son more frosty.
Another source chimed in: “Harry knew exactly what the optics would be. A meeting with Charles was always going to infuriate William. Harry understands that his father still thinks like a parent, while William thinks like the future King. Those are two very different mindsets, and Harry knows how to play to both.”
Those close to William have revealed that years of incessant public conflict have strained his relationship with his younger brother. Moreover, the Prince of Wales was reportedly deeply affected by Harry’s words for him in his memoir Spare.
An insider dished: “William’s trust is gone. Harry knows reconciliation with Charles, even in small steps, puts enormous pressure on William. He understands exactly how those dynamics play out—and he’s prepared to use them when it suits him.”
