Hulu is bringing Jason Statham‘s action-fantasy film after it bombed at the box office. Based on the popular Dungeon Siege video game franchise created by Gas Powered Games, the movie arrived in theaters on January 11, 2008, and grossed just $13.1 million globally against an estimated production budget of $60 million.
Why Jason Statham’s $60M fantasy movie is worth watching on Hulu today
Jason Statham’s In the Name of the King: A Dungeon Siege Tale arrives on Hulu today, July 10, 2026. Despite its flaws, the film delivers visually impressive action sequences, solid fight choreography, and committed performances. It also gives viewers a chance to see Statham in a fantasy setting filled with wizards and mythical creatures.
Directed by Uwe Boll, the film was made on a reported budget of $60 million, but failed miserably at the box office, earning merely around $13 million. According to Variety, the movie fell short of fantasy classics despite its ambitious scope and sizable budget. The Statham-led film holds a poor 4% Tomatometer score and a 22% Popcornmeter score on Rotten Tomatoes.

Although In the Name of the King was a box-office bomb, it still received two sequels: In the Name of the King 2: Two Worlds and In the Name of the King 3: The Last Mission. However, neither sequel received a theatrical release, and both were released directly on DVD and Blu-ray.
In the Name of the King follows Farmer (Jason Statham) as he battles the Krugs, a race of primitive, animal-like beast warriors. As his journey unfolds, Farmer discovers that the Krugs are under the magical control of Gallian (Ray Liotta), a corrupt wizard plotting to overthrow the aging King Konreid (Burt Reynolds). He also uncovers a crucial secret about his own past.
Apart from Jason Statham, the ensemble cast of the film included Claire Forlani, Leelee Sobieski, John Rhys-Davies, Ron Perlman, Ray Liotta, Burt Reynolds, and Kristanna Loken.
