Netflix’s upcoming reboot of The Da Vinci Code franchise just got an exciting new update. The series will adapt Dan Brown’s latest Robert Langdon novel, The Secret of Secrets. The franchise previously had Tom Hanks portray the character across three films over the course of a decade.
What is the casting update for Netflix’s The Da Vinci Code TV show?
Speaking with ScreenRant, Carlton Cuse, the co-creator of the new show, revealed a major production update. Cuse said the team is preparing to announce who has been cast to succeed Tom Hanks as Robert Langdon. He also confirmed that The Secret of Secrets will be adapted into an eight-episode series.
“I’m getting ready to start filming an adaptation of Dan Brown’s new book, Secret of Secrets, which features the Robert Langdon character, who was played by Tom Hanks in three movies,” said Cuse. “I think we’re soon going to announce who’s going to be taking over as Robert Langdon in that franchise, and we’re making an eight-hour version of this latest Dan Brown Robert Langdon story for Netflix. We’re getting close [to confirming the lead].”
There have been six books featuring Robert Langdon and three films. The most recent adaptation was Peacock’s 2021 series The Lost Symbol, which starred Ashley Zukerman as Langdon. The last film in the franchise was Inferno, released in 2016, to negative reviews. The first Robert Langdon novel, Angels & Demons, was released in 2000, while the latest entry came out in 2025.
The Secret of Secrets follows Langdon in Prague as he searches for his girlfriend, Katherine Solomon, after she mysteriously disappears. Upon publication, the book debuted on The New York Times Best Sellers list.
The Secret of Secrets adaptation currently doesn’t have a release date.
