Kristen Stewart and Alia Shawkat play two broke stoners in The Wrong Girls, as seen in the film’s new trailer. The upcoming Neon film also features Seth Rogen, who voices a talking cat that crosses paths with Frankie’s character after she gets high on a mysterious substance. Helmed by Stewart’s partner Dylan Meyer, the film marks her directorial debut.
The official synopsis of The Wrong Girls reads, “Two codependent best friends living paycheck to paycheck, and bong rip to bong rip, get caught in a case of mistaken identity that throws their lives into chaos.”

The Wrong Girls trailer begins with Frankie (Stewart) and Molly (Shawkat) driving away from a man who is shooting at them. The story then rewinds to one day, and Frankie and Molly are shown as two broke stoners who stumble upon a mysterious substance in the green room of a live music venue. Strange things begin to happen once they consume the substance, including an encounter with a talking cat named Dio (Rogen). The rest of the trailer follows the bizarre events that unfold afterward.
Alongside Kristen Stewart, Alia Shawkat, and Seth Rogen, the upcoming Neon film also stars LaKeith Stanfield as Not Metal Head Dave, Kumail Nanjiani as GG, Zack Fox as Josh, Tony Hale as Martin Flynn, Geena Davis as Dr. Olsen, Kate McKinnon as Dr. Chapman, Thomas Nicholson as Fritz, Thor Knai as Dagmar, Thomas La Barbera Christensen as Axel, Cate Blanchett as Deep Sea Expert, and Sugar Lyn Beard as Mrs. Kock.
The Wrong Girls is produced by Stewart, Maggie McLean, and Dylan Meyer (for Nevermind Pictures), Alex McAtee, James Weaver, Seth Rogen, and Evan Goldberg (for Point Grey Pictures), and Allison Rose Carter and Jon Read (for Savage Rose Films). Scott Aharoni, Sinan Eczacibasi, and Metin Alihan Yalcindag are attached to the project as executive producers for Curious Gremlin.
The Wrong Girls is slated to release in theaters on August 14, 2026.
