Supergirl has received many negative reviews, and the latest Pitch Meeting pokes fun at its narrative inconsistencies. The second DC Studios film failed to meet box office expectations, with many critics highlighting flaws in its storytelling.

Ryan George hilariously points out Supergirl’s plot holes in new Pitch Meeting
Ryan George’s Pitch Meeting series pokes fun at popular movies by highlighting their plot holes and inconsistencies. The same is true of the Supergirl Pitch Meeting, as George talks about what might have gone down during the film’s conception. The potshots start with the film’s opening, where Kara, who doesn’t “feel a connection to Earth,” enjoys listening to Earth’s music.
The satire continues by aiming at the film’s villain, Krem of the Yellow Hills, whose “deal is that he’s a bad guy, not even nice at all.” George’s fake version of the scriptwriter notes how, despite being a bad guy, Krem kills Ruthye’s family but lets her live, because she needs to be in the movie. “This bad guy’s super considerate of the movie you’re trying to make,” says George’s fake DC Studios executive stand-in.
George also points out how convenient it is that Supergirl is depowered for most of the film. The video finally takes a subtle jab at Supergirl’s use of a “terrible” needle drop in its finale.
The film’s critical reception has marked a low point for the DCU so far. At the time of writing, Supergirl has a 55% score on Rotten Tomatoes, based on 326 reviews. However, the film’s audience score tells a very different story. SuperHeroHype’s Matt Morrison liked the film, calling it a “worthy entry in the DCU canon.” After nearly a week in theaters, the film has grossed $79 million worldwide, with Warner Bros. expected to lose over $100 million.
Milly Alcock’s Supergirl will return in Man of Tomorrow, joining Aaron Pierre’s Green Lantern and other mysterious characters.
Supergirl is now playing in theaters.
