Prince Harry’s UK Trip Security Situation Has Left Him ‘Devastated’ — Source

The security dispute ahead of his UK trip has reportedly left Prince Harry “devastated”. Since stepping back as working royals in 2020, the Sussexes no longer get automatic police protection in the UK. Prince Harry, however, has consistently stated that he wants to visit his home country with his wife and children, but feels unable to do so safely without guaranteed police-level protection.

Prince Harry is reportedly ‘close to tears’ because of UK trip security situation

The deadlock over police protection for his UK visits has reportedly left Prince Harry heartbroken. Insiders told Vanity Fair that the Duke is “close to tears”, torn between his desire to return home with his wife and children and his fears for their safety.

In support of the 2027 Invictus Games in Birmingham, the 41-year-old Prince has scheduled a trip to England. He confirmed to news outlets on Friday that his wife Meghan Markle and their children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, will accompany him on what will be the family’s first UK visit since 2022.

However, hours after releasing the statements, Prince Harry reportedly backtracked and was rethinking bringing his family. The shift came after he learned that the Royal and VIP Executive Committee would not grant round-the-clock police protection for the visit. RAVEC decides on taxpayer-funded security case by case, and it is typically reserved for full-time working royals. When Vanity Fair reached out to the Home Office, a spokesperson said its stance had not changed.

As for King Charles’ stance, the source explained that he is eager to see his estranged son and grandchildren. However, the monarch has made clear that he will not intervene in security decisions.

A spokesperson for Prince Harry has stated he is exploring “every available option” for the family to travel together on July 7. Previous coverage claimed that the King had extended the use of Buckingham Palace for the visit. But the outlet noted that the Palace had not verified any such arrangement. The statement said, “Risk follows the person, not the place.”
