It seems John Oliver will have an eventful summer in the soap opera space. The comedian has secured a role in another show after landing an important part in General Hospital.
Besides General Hospital, John Oliver also landed a role in Days of Our Lives
Oliver will not only have a guest role on General Hospital soon but will also appear on Days of Our Lives. He will feature in three episodes airing from August 11 to 14, 2026. Details of his part are unspecified. However, what is known is that he will share scenes with Dan Feuerriegel, who plays the villain EJ DiMera.
Feurriegel praised Oliver’s performance on Threads, where he shared a selfie with the latter. The actor wrote, “Well, this happened. Can’t wait for y’all to enjoy the shenanigans. John crushes it.”
Days of Our Lives executive producer, Ken Corday, revealed in a statement that the show had to jump on the opportunity to include Oliver after he offered himself for a role. He stated, “When John Oliver said, ‘Call me soaps, I’m available and willing to travel. I want to be a part of that world,’ our world, we had to heed the call!” (via Daytime Confidential).
The political commentator’s show, Last Week Tonight, recently shared stills of his appearances on both soaps on Instagram. In their post, they hilariously praised both shows for their work on his hairstyle.
Meanwhile, his appearances in General Hospital, described as a “significant” guest role, are part of a three-episode arc that starts on July 2 and wraps up on July 6 (via TVLine).
General Hospital executive producer Frank Valentini said that they did not “hesitate” to cast Oliver after he expressed a strong interest in appearing. “He was everything you’d hope he’d be: prepared, professional, funny, and genuinely kind to everyone on set,” he said of the actor’s conduct (via Variety). “He plays an integral character in the story, and I can’t wait for fans to see who he crosses paths within Port Charles.”
Meanwhile, Oliver expressed gratitude for the opportunity to appear. He said, “General Hospital was everything I hoped it would be. It’s a true honor to be a small stain on the history of this illustrious show.”
Oliver’s appearances follow his public request to be a part of soap operas in March. While expressing interest, he laid down some hilarious conditions that had to be fulfilled.
