Prince William reportedly has big plans for the Buckingham Palace, claims source
Prince William has reportedly made an unexpected plan for Buckingham Palace. Rob Shuter reports that the Prince of Wales is planning to open the palace to visitors year-round. The palace would continue hosting royal events such as state banquets, award ceremonies, and meetings with world leaders. However, paying visitors would also be able to explore it as a museum and experience the beauty of the royal building.
A source said that William isn’t seeing the situation as “an either-or.” He believes that the palace can host official events while also welcoming guests and museum visitors.
This would mean that people would have access to the historic rooms and be able to tour them. Moreover, visitors could reportedly book overnight stays as well. An insider says this would be a huge deal, as people would travel from all parts of the world for a chance to stay in one of the world’s most famous buildings. Consequently, it would generate millions in revenue.
Another source said that William is not hugely “sentimental” about the building itself, but he cares deeply about the “monarchy.” They added that if he believes turning part of the palace into a museum and hotel would help preserve the palace and benefit its future, he would do it. The insider added, “The palace won’t stop being a palace. It will simply work harder than ever before.”
