Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez shared her take on Donald Trump‘s failed reflecting pool renovation project. Although the president promised to improve its condition, the pool later showed algae growth, suggesting the issue remained unresolved. Earlier, Trump claimed a massive amount of garbage was removed from the pool while criticizing previous administrations for spending millions without fixing its condition.
AOC calls out Donald Trump’s reflecting pool chaos
Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez recently spoke up about Donald Trump’s $14 million reflecting pool project. When asked by the MeidasTouch Network, she revealed that the reemergence of the pool problems was expected. AOC said, “I mean, when you defund science research, when you don’t really understand the first thing about science, yeah, they talked a bunch of smack.” Criticizing how the renovation failed miserably, she added, “They said they had to repaint the pool and now they’ve turned the place into a swamp. They turned it into an actual swamp.”
A few days back, photographer Andrew Leyden took to X (formerly Twitter) to share a series of photos of the newly renovated pool. It appeared green due to the algae formation, drawing mixed reactions from the public. Recently, the president revealed that he is aware of the algae issue in the reflecting pool and is determined to fix it. However, he stated that the work might not be done ahead of the 4th of July, which marks America’s 250th anniversary.
Trump mentioned that he had inspected the pool while providing an update on what could be done next to fix the problem. The POTUS said, “We will drain some of the water, either immediately before or after the Fourth of July, to do the permanent repair.” Later, he also claimed that a few people, who had been arrested, had vandalized the beautiful pool with a sharp knife or razor. Trump said that six people have already been arrested.
“It was purposefully and criminally done, and somebody had to work very hard, probably in the dark of night, to create such a condition. Likewise, the small area at the bottom of the pool was cut and powerfully lifted off the surface leaving very jagged, uneven edges,” he stated (via The Guardian).
