A forgotten thriller starring Sydney Sweeney, which premiered a year ago, recently became a streaming hit and dethroned F1 in charts. This caught the attention of many, including the actress herself, who reacted by highlighting the development on social media.
Sydney Sweeney celebrates Echo Valley topping Apple TV’s streaming charts
Echo Valley has become the #1 movie on Apple TV as of June 24, according to data shared by FlixPatrol. This is likely because subscribers either discovered or rediscovered its existence on the streamer.
Accordingly, it has surpassed the viewership count of Brad Pitt’s racing movie, F1, now at #2. Others in the top 10 list include Outcome, The Gorge, Fountain of Youth, The Family Plan, Greyhound, The Family Plan 2, Eternity, and Emancipation. Notably, Sydney Sweeney recently celebrated the movie’s success on her Instagram stories.
Furthermore, the film, co-starring Julianne Moore, is also in the worldwide top 10 movies list at #8, surpassing just two features, The Family Plan 2 and Highest 2 Lowest.
Directed by Michael Pearce, the film enjoyed a limited theatrical release in the United States and Canada on June 6, 2025, before becoming available on Apple TV seven days later on June 13. Brad Ingelsby, known for shows like Mare of Easttown and Task, as well as movies such as The Way Back and The Lost Bus, wrote the screenplay. Additionally, Ingelsby co-produced with Michael Pruss, Ridley Scott, and Kevin J. Walsh.
Apart from Sweeney and Moore, the film stars Domhnall Gleeson, Fiona Shaw, Edmund Donovan, Albert Jones, and Kyle MacLachlan, among others.
Following its arrival, it received mixed critical reception, reflected in its mediocre scores on review aggregators.
On Rotten Tomatoes, Echo Valley displays a rotten 53% rating and a lower 49% audience score. The consensus reads, “Julianne Moore’s committed turn and the relatable premise of how far a parent will go for their child gives Echo Valley some high peaks, but soporific plotting sends it sloping back down to routine territory.” Meanwhile, Metacritic has assigned it “mixed or average” scores — a Metascore of 54 and a user score of 4.3.
