How Prince William is a real challenge for King Charles
According to Rob Shuter, King Charles faces most problems with Prince William rather than Prince Harry. Palace insiders shared that the monarch’s most complicated relationship is with the Prince of Wales. “Harry is emotional and unpredictable, but William is the real challenge,” a palace insider told the outlet. The individual continued, “With Harry, at least Charles knows where he stands. With William, it’s much more complicated.”
Sources explained that the tension between William and Charles has quietly grown, with the former’s influence on the monarchy being expanded. An insider stated, “William is no longer waiting in the wings. He has his own team, his own agenda, and very clear ideas about the future of the monarchy.” As per the sources, the issue is that the King wants to shape his reign, but his eldest son is focused on what comes next. “Charles waited his entire life to become King. The last thing he wants is people acting as if his reign is already over,” a royal insider said.
Some palace figures also allegedly believe that the Prince of Wales’s growing power has ended up undermining his father. A source explained, “There are times when it feels like two royal courts operating under one roof. Charles has his priorities. William has his. They don’t always align.” A source also said, “The Harry situation is largely frozen. The real challenge for Charles is managing a future King who is increasingly impatient to shape the institution in his own image.”
One palace insider said, “Harry is the family drama. William is the constitutional challenge.” Rob Shuter has also reported that William has agreed to a private meeting with the Duke of Sussex during the latter’s UK visit. He is reportedly ready to meet his brother while their relationship continues to remain complicated. “William knows this visit is bigger than old arguments. His father wants to see Archie and Lilibet, and William understands why that matters,” the source said.
