A split-second gesture from Donald Trump is generating widespread speculation online
Donald Trump recently signed a US-Iran memorandum of understanding on Wednesday at the Palace of Versailles in France. However, what caught attention was his hand gesture after signing the pact, prompting many viewers to reflect on it.
A video circulating on X shows POTUS signing the deal on the table, with French President Emmanuel Macron and Secretary of State Marco Rubio at his side. After signing, the guests applaud. But soon after, the president did a hand gesture for a split second, while saying, “oil down,” which left many wondering.
“Trump is forgotting that oil is cyclical, on the long term the big cycles win!,” posted a person on X. Another individual mentioned, “Creates the high oil prices then claims to create a solution to a problem he created and maga celebrates.” A third added, “It feels like he lost it from his expressions. Not a good gesture.” Another person said, “Remind me who sent the oil up and the stocks down to accomplish absolutely nothing…”
This is not the only time his actions have drawn a reaction. According to HuffPost, experts say the handshake between Trump and Macron a few days ago was strange. Regarding the handshake, Denise Dudley, a clinical psychologist and behavioral expert, said that “Trump is literally hanging his hand downward,” a gesture known as a “dead fish” handshake, in which the other person has to “do all the work.”
The handshake occurred one day after Trump’s late-night UFC fight celebration, and experts believe the timing may have influenced it. “It seems like someone stayed up too late,” said Traci Brown, a body language expert and behavior analyst. “He’s there in body, but that’s it.”
