In a June 15 Truth Social post, Donald Trump revealed his extravagant plans for 4th of July celebrations. The president announced, “We are going to host the most spectacular TRUMP RALLY of them all.” The lengthy statement also outlined various spectacles planned for the event, including “the LARGEST FIREWORKS SHOW IN HISTORY, right here in our Nation’s Capitol.”

Jimmy Kimmel reacted to Trump’s Fourth of July plans with a series of quips during the Tuesday monologue of his late-night talk show. After reading the Truth Social post to his audience, Kimmel joked, “He’s going to burn down the White House, isn’t he?”

Kimmel continued, “He’s going to want all the fireworks. There are going to be too many fireworks.” Alluding to Trump’s demolition of the White House East Wing last, the host added, “[Trump] knocked down one half, he’s going to burn down the other.”

Kimmel went on to criticize Trump’s extravagant plans for the event. “The amount of time he spends talking about and planning these events and building these vanity projects, it’s unbelievable,” he said, adding, “And expensive.”

The late-night host also informed the audience about a Washington Post report on Tuesday stating that Trump has been told his ballroom project is estimated to cost $600 million, more than half of which will be covered by taxpayer money.

“We all knew this was going to happen, right?” Kimmel noted. “When the minute he promised it wasn’t going to cost any taxpayer dollars, when he said it was his gift to the American people, that’s when we all knew we were paying for it,” he added.
