The discourse around Donald Trump‘s controversial phone, titled Trump Mobile T1, seems to have reached a shocking breakthrough. A recent report explained why the device is practically a copy of the HTC U24 Pro. The study, conducted by iFixit, included a teardown of Trump’s mobile along with a side-by-side, intricate comparison with HTC’s device.
While the results did mention some differences between the two phones, they primarily appeared to confirm the narrative introduced by the company.
Donald Trump’s T1 phone is allegedly a copy of HTC U24 Pro
A June 10 iFixit review has claimed that Donald Trump’s T1 phone is borderline identical to the HTC U24 Pro, which came out in markets in 2024.
The teardown commenced with a Lumafield CT scan of the two phones. The resulting radiographs revealed that Trump Mobile T1 nearly had the same internals as the U24 Pro.
The back cover of the Trump phone had slight alterations from the HTC model, along with a repositioned flash. Removing the back cover will expose the T1 phone’s lengthened flex cable. Additionally, while both devices sported the same speakers, the grille in Trump’s phone came with minor changes in its pattern.
On the front side, the screens also looked identical, despite both companies citing different dimensions for their product. Their screen panels also had an identical pixel density and layout. A deeper analysis divulged that the two devices even had a similar component placement. As such, the study claimed that the boards of both phones were actually manufactured by the same factories.
Another small difference was between the batteries of the two devices. Despite having comparable dimensions, Trump’s phone carried a 19.35 Wh power source instead of the HTC U24 Pro’s 17.23 Wh. Moreover, the T1 comes with a 30W charger, as opposed to the U24 Pro’s 60W charger.
Interestingly, the experiment further revealed that the Trump phone was able to run on the mainboard used in the said HTC device.
