George Clooney Has a Favorite for the Next James Bond

George Clooney has revealed who he wants to see take over as the next 007. The Oscar-winner believes one British actor has everything needed for James Bond. With the search for Daniel Craig’s successor now officially underway, Clooney has thrown his support behind a familiar face. His choice also happens to be one of the names already generating buzz among fans and bookmakers.

George Clooney says this actor should become the next James Bond

George Clooney has made it clear who he thinks should inherit the famous license to kill. Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter, the actor and filmmaker said he hopes Callum Turner lands the role that Daniel Craig left behind five years ago.

Clooney previously directed Turner in the 2023 sports drama The Boys in the Boat, and he believes the British actor is tailor-made for 007. “I hope Callum ends up being the next Bond,” Clooney said. “I think he would be a great Bond.” Clooney further described Callum as “tall, handsome, charming, and British,” making him “perfect” for the role.

Turner may be one of the hottest names in the James Bond rumor mill, but according to him, nobody has actually picked up the phone. Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter, the actor laughed off the speculation, saying it’s funny to see so much noise around something that, from his perspective, isn’t “happening at all.” He even joked that old friends have started texting him about the Bond chatter.

Meanwhile, the next 007 movie is gearing up to kick off a brand-new chapter. Amazon MGM Studios now holds the creative reins, with Denis Villeneuve directing, Steven Knight handling the script, and producers Amy Pascal and David Heyman helping steer the iconic franchise into its next era.

The James Bond series remains one of Hollywood’s most enduring franchises. Since Dr. No arrived in 1962, the franchise has produced 25 official films. Seven actors have portrayed Bond in those movies, including Sean Connery, George Lazenby, Roger Moore, Timothy Dalton, Pierce Brosnan and Daniel Craig. Whoever follows Craig will become the eighth official big-screen Bond.
