Donald Trump has reportedly faced a cutting humiliation, which was not foreseen by many. The office of the general counsel at the John F. Kennedy Center has allegedly issued an order for the removal of the US President’s name from the institution. On Thursday, June 4, the Center for the Performing Arts reportedly sent its staff members a memo, asking them to remove Trump’s name from their branding on official forms and also other documents.
Kennedy Center reportedly orders staff to remove Donald Trump’s name from the institution
The John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts has reportedly sent orders to the staff members to remove the name of President Donald Trump from the institution’s branding. Meanwhile, its general counsel’s office allegedly gave the order via a memo. As reported by The New York Times, the institution sent the memo a few days after the ruling by a federal judge came out. According to the ruling, it was “unlawful” for the board to decide to include the US President’s name in the institution.
Per the news outlet, the staff members at the John F. Kennedy Center received detailed instructions about the materials they need to update through the memo. It reportedly included voice mail messages, email signatures, and social media accounts. In the meantime, the memo also gave instructions about other specifications. It allegedly asked the staff members to alter the outdoor and indoor signage with Trump’s name by June 12.
As further reported by the news outlet, the memo read, “To comply with this order.” It continued, “You must immediately change email signatures, letterhead and other documents to reflect the name as ‘The John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts,’ or ‘Kennedy Center.’”
Per the news outlet, Judge Christopher R. Cooper of Washington’s Federal District Court ruled last week that only Congress can change the name of the center. He also ruled that the institution must remove President Trump’s name from the center and its official materials within just two weeks.
