Kate Middleton shared a sweet and rare insight into her marriage during a recent royal engagement. The Princess of Wales attended a reception celebrating the 125th anniversary of Cancer Research U.K. and surprised royal fans with a heartfelt comment about Prince William. The moment came after a difficult few years for the couple, who faced Kate’s cancer diagnosis and recovery while raising their three children.
Kate Middleton makes rare comment about her ‘love’ for Prince William at cancer charity reception
While speaking with singer Ronan Keating and his wife Storm at St. James’s Palace, the conversation turned to Prince William. Storm described the future king as “such a gent,” while Ronan added, “We love him,” per Daily Mail.
Kate responded with a simple but affectionate remark: “So do I.” The brief comment stood out because the Prince and Princess of Wales rarely discuss their relationship in public. However, it was not the only time Kate praised her husband during the reception.
Later, she spoke with Sebastien Bowen, the husband of the late cancer campaigner Dame Deborah James. Bowen thanked William for taking the time to talk with his children. Kate replied, “He’s good like that,” highlighting another quality she admires in her husband.
The royal couple married in 2011 and share three children: Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis. Their family faced a challenging period after Kate revealed her cancer diagnosis in 2024. She announced in January 2025 that she was in remission.
During that difficult time, Kate and William chose to be open with their children about what was happening. In her cancer announcement, Kate said they took time to explain everything carefully to George, Charlotte, and Louis.
William later spoke about that decision during a visit to Brazil for the 2025 Earthshot Prize Awards. He said he and Kate communicated more with their children because hiding difficult situations often does not help.
The Prince of Wales also recently shared an emotional update on Kate’s recovery. Speaking on Heart Breakfast, he said he felt “so proud” of his wife and added that the family “couldn’t cope without her.”
