Jill Biden’s Back & Forth on Her ‘Doctor’ Career Sparks Severe Backlash

Jill Biden’s quick “I’m not a doctor” correction drew backlash after her appearance on “The View.” The former first lady was discussing Joe Biden’s 2024 debate, his health, and what doctors had told her at the time. She then clarified that she was a doctor, though her doctorate was in education rather than medicine. The moment spread online and reignited debate over her title. One X user wrote, “Good thing she didn’t run for president either.”

Jill Biden denies being a ‘doctor’ on ‘The View’ before correcting herself

As per the ABC report dated June 3, 2026, Jill Biden appeared on “The View” while discussing “View from the East Wing.” Sara Haines asked whether she went into protection mode after saying she feared a medical episode. Haines asked, “Was there any part of you that went into protection mode of like, Joe, you can’t keep doing this. Like this is, they’re taking so much from you.” Jill replied, “The doctors told me he was fine. I’m not a doctor. I mean, I am a doctor.” The audience laughed and cheered after the correction. However, misspeak soon became the main social-media flashpoint.

The exchange followed Jill Biden’s CBS comments about Joe Biden’s June 2024 debate against Donald Trump. She told Rita Braver she had “never ever seen Joe like that before or since.” Jill also said, “Oh, my God, he’s having a stroke,” while watching the debate. On “The View,” the educator said no aide had warned her beforehand. She added that three events followed that night, yet she still asked, “What happened?”

Meanwhile, online backlash built around the title correction and the debate explanation. One X user wrote, “No shame,” while another said, “You can’t make this up.” A third reacted, “Aint. No. Way.” For context, Jill Biden earned a Doctor of Education in educational leadership from the University of Delaware in 2007. She worked as an educator, not a medical doctor. The moment, therefore, turned a health discussion into a fresh title debate during her memoir rollout.
