Jeremy Renner has dropped a major update about Mayor of Kingstown Season 5‘s status. Set to be the crime thriller’s final chapter, it is poised to wrap up multiple story and character arcs. The first four seasons are currently available to stream on Paramount+.
Jeremy Renner gives update on Mayor of Kingstown Season 5
Renner confirmed on Instagram that the production of Mayor of Kingstown Season 5 was nearing completion, while also teasing possible grim fates for his character, Mike McLusky, and the supporting cast. He shared a photo that jokingly shows his dogs, Roxy and Hershey, in jail, with one of them wearing a black-and-white striped prison outfit. Meanwhile, the background depicts a destroyed, burning car in front of a McLusky Steel building.
“Coming close to finishing Season 5 on Mayor of Kingstown. No one is safe this season …. I mean Nobody!” He captioned the post. “Bless you all and thank you for the support all these years.. we appreciate you!!!!”
Season 5 does not have an official release date as of the time of writing. The story will see FBI agent Russell Hardy arrive in Kingstown following the murder of Mike’s sister-in-law, Tracy. As a dedicated lawman, Hardy becomes a threat to the complicated power balance in the company town.
Unlike previous seasons, each of which has ten episodes, the fifth will have eight.
In addition to Renner’s Mike, Season 5 will see Edie Falco, Laura Benanti, Hugh Dillon, Taylor Handley, Tobi Bamtefa, Derek Webster, Necar Zadegan, Nichole Galicia, and Lennie James reprise their roles.
David Morse of House and John Adams fame joins the cast as a series regular, essaying the aforementioned Hardy. Meanwhile, Néstor Carbonell, known for his roles in Shōgun, Lost, and Bates Motel, will also appear in a recurring capacity as Enrique Molina.
Taylor Sheridan co-created the show with Dillon. They also executive-produced with Renner, Ron Burkle, Michael Friedman, Antoine Fuqua, David Glasser, and Bob Yari.
