Netflix’s The Four Seasons co-creator, Tracey Wigfield, hopes that the show will return for Season 3. After the second season wrapped up, Wigfield revealed their big plans for the show’s future. However, there’s one caveat.
The Four Seasons creator wants to return for Season 3 on Netflix
The Four Seasons returned for its second season on Netflix last week, on May 28, delivering yet another blend of lighthearted comedy and midlife drama. While it concluded on a satisfying note, the showrunners hope to keep the story going with additional seasons.
During an interview with ScreenRant, co-creator Tracy Wigfield was asked how many seasons they’ve planned for the show. “Just like 80 or 85!” she joked. “No, I don’t know. As many as they’d let us do for you!”
Given that Netflix has the ultimate say in whether the show continues or not, The Four Seasons’ fate currently remains uncertain. However, it hasn’t stopped Wigfield from hoping to do Season 3 and beyond. “This is only the second season, so I think we’ll know when it feels like it’s coming to a natural stopping point. I would love to do another season, if we could,” the Emmy-winning writer explained.
Wigfield co-created the show with her longtime collaborators, Tina Fey and Lang Fisher. The trio has an impressive track record of producing and writing hit shows individually as well, such as 30 Rock and The Mindy Project. While credentials like these would seem to make the show an easy choice for renewal, its future ultimately depends on one thing: how many viewers it attracts.
For comparison, Season 1 reportedly drew more than 51 million viewers within one week of its 2025 premiere (via RadioTimes). Now, FlixPatrol’s data for May 31, 2026, reveals that Season 2 is currently the #1 show in the U.S. This indicates a favorable trend. Meanwhile, Netflix has yet to make viewership numbers public, which will likely determine whether the series will continue.
The Four Seasons follows six longtime friends whose seasonal vacations are disrupted when one couple’s marriage collapses. It features an impressive star cast that includes Fey, Steve Carell, Colman Domingo, Erika Henningsen, Kerri Kenney, Will Forte, and Marco Calvani, among others.
The first two seasons are now available to stream on Netflix. Meanwhile, the streaming giant has yet to renew it for Season 3.
