Industry Boss Reveals Exciting Season 5 News After The Boys Backlash

In the wake of the criticism faced by The Boys‘ finale, Industry co-creator Konrad Kay has come out to confirm an essential detail regarding the upcoming Season 5 of the HBO hit. The veteran television writer, in a recent interview, revealed that he knows exactly how Industry will come to an end in its fifth and final installment, much to the fans’ relief.

Konrad Kay is aware of how Industry Season 5 will end

While speaking with Gold Derby, Kay shared an extensive account of Harper Stern’s (Myha’la) journey across the four seasons of Industry. During the explanation, however, he inadvertently disclosed that he and co-creator Mickey Down have charted out an ending for the fan-favorite financial thriller drama.

“We want to be surprised by the characters as we write them,” Konrad Kay noted. “That’s by far the best thing about narrative TV, being able to live with characters for years of your life and taking them on these spectacular journeys that you could never accomplish in a two-hour movie. We know how the show ends, but being able to surprise ourselves with those images when we’re in the writers’ room is the joy of television.”

Mickey Down, who had accompanied Kay onto the interview, later explained the extent of influence real-world developments have on the trajectory of their show. He stated, “It’s very hard to write a contemporaneous show set in London without writing about what’s happening in the world, especially when it’s through the prism of business…We’re interested in the rise of autocracy and right-wing politics around the world, as well as state interference in different countries.”

Down concluded his account by adding, “Even though we don’t sit in the writers’ room and say, ‘OK, this season is going to be about the rise of autocracy,’ it’s also impossible to ignore.”

Although HBO has yet to assign an official release date to Industry Season 5, fans can expect the final installment in the series to come out in late 2027 or early 2028.
