Russell Crowe Clarifies Viral Fan Exchange Video, Calls It ‘Clickbait’

A viral video outside Russell Crowe’s Paris hotel claimed he acted tense with his fans, but the 62-year-old actor is pleading otherwise. Some outlets, including TMZ, painted Crowe as the latest celebrity to lose patience with fans, with the video showing Crowe laying down firm ground rules before signing a single thing. But the actor clarified that he never denied anyone a moment, and he dismissed the whole storyline as “clickbait.”

Russell Crowe claims fans got their ‘autograph and selfie’ after tense fan exchange video goes viral

TMZ first highlighted the video, showing Russell Crowe stepping out of the hotel and immediately spotting his fans moving toward him and stopping them right there. He asks, “Are you listening?” and instructs them to “Stay where you are.” Crowe then tells them in a sharp and firm voice, “Don’t f***ing push in on me. I’ll come to you. Give everyone space,” also adding, “As soon as somebody is a d***, I am gone. You got me? We clear?” Once everyone acknowledged, he went person by person, signing autographs for each fan.

However, TMZ reported the moment as a brush-off. On X (formerly Twitter), the outlet wrote, “If you needed a reminder that fans are not always priority No. 1 — turn to Russell Crowe — cause the guy was absolutely not having it outside of his Paris hotel.” Moreover, they pointed out that he looked annoyed and refused one fan’s request for a special signature.

Crowe, for his part, did not let that narrative pass. He reposted TMZ’s post, calling it “Clickbait,” and explaining, “Everybody got their autograph and selfie, the passage to the hotel was kept free for guests, and I still got to the airport on time. One man, no security. Handled. What’s your problem ?”

Russell Crowe laid down the rules before attending to each fan, while also making sure that hotel guests could walk through without a mob in the way — and whether or not the video was “clickbait,” he made his stance pretty clear.
