Don’t Forget, Brendan Fraser’s War Epic & a Sony Comedy Release This Week

Two new films are set to arrive in theaters this week, as Pressure and The Breadwinner prepare for release on May 29. The upcoming releases include a World War II drama starring Brendan Fraser and a Sony-backed family comedy led by comedian Nate Bargatze. These two films offer audiences two completely different genres heading into the weekend.

Pressure and The Breadwinner to hit theaters this week

Two very different films are heading to theaters on May 29, with Pressure bringing a tense World War II story to the big screen. Meanwhile, The Breadwinner delivers a family comedy centered on shifting household roles.

Directed by Anthony Maras and based on David Haig’s 2014 stage play, Pressure centers on the seventy-two hours before the Allied invasion of Normandy. The story follows British meteorological officer James Stagg, whose weather forecasts become critical as military leaders prepare for the largest seaborne invasion in history. With dangerous conditions threatening the operation and delays risking exposure to German intelligence, Commander Dwight D. Eisenhower weighs whether to proceed with the mission.

The film stars Andrew Scott as James Stagg alongside Brendan Fraser as Dwight D. Eisenhower. Additional cast members include Kerry Condon as Kay Summersby, Chris Messina as Irving P. Krick, and Damian Lewis as Bernard Montgomery.

Meanwhile, The Breadwinner is a comedy centered on family life and changing household dynamics. Directed by Eric Appel from a screenplay by Nate Bargatze and Dan Lagana, the film follows salesman Nate Wilcox after his wife Katie lands a successful deal through Shark Tank. As Katie leaves for an extended business trip, Nate suddenly finds himself responsible for managing the household and caring for their three daughters on his own.

The story follows Nate’s attempts to adapt to life as a stay-at-home father while trying to keep the family functioning. The cast includes Nate Bargatze as Nate Wilcox and Mandy Moore as Katie Wilcox. Supporting cast members include Will Forte as Keegan, Colin Jost as Conor Ashford, and Kumail Nanjiani as Peyton.

Both films are set for theatrical release later this week.
