Bruce Springsteen Says Donald Trump ‘Can’t Take a Joke’

Bruce Springsteen took a jab at Donald Trump during the second-to-last episode of The Late Show with Stephen Colbert. He reflected on the unfortunate cancellation, placing the blame on the president for not being able to stand a joke. This remark comes amid Trump having issued a warning ahead of the finale. The president had suggested that he would write a lengthy post about it on his social media.

Bruce Springsteen comments on Stephen Colbert show ending

Bruce Springsteen recently appeared on the penultimate episode of The Late Show with Stephen Colbert on May 20. He delivered an emotional performance and expressed his thoughts on how politics ruined the show’s run. He said, “I am here tonight to support Stephen, because you’re the first guy in America who lost his show because we’ve got a president who can’t take a joke.”

Further slamming the Skydance CEO and his son, he added, “And because Larry and David Ellison feel the need to kiss his ass to get what they want.” Springsteen referred to these prominent figures as “small-minded people” as he spoke to Colbert. He said that these people have no idea what the freedoms of a beautiful country should be about. Springsteen then went on to perform “Streets of Minneapolis” in dedication to Colbert.

Recently, Donald Trump was asked by reporters to share his thoughts on Colbert’s The Late Show ending. The president refused to give an immediate comment and suggested that he might reveal his thoughts later. “I’ll have a message at a later date,” he said (via The Independent).

Trump had earlier threatened to pull the plug on Colbert’s show when the host criticized him publicly over hosting the Kennedy Center Honors. “Stephen Colbert is a pathetic trainwreck, with no talent or anything else necessary for show business success. Now, after being terminated by CBS, but left out to dry, he has actually gotten worse, along with his nonexistent ratings. Stephen is running on hatred and fumes ~ A dead man walking! CBS should, ‘put him to sleep,’ NOW, it is the humanitarian thing to do!” he wrote on his Truth Social account.
