It also revealed that she and her mother were no longer speaking. The season finale showed Samira discussing her future plans with Dr. Michael Robinavitch. Following the finale, reports confirmed that Ganesh would not return for season 3 of The Pitt. It was revealed that her departure came because of a creative decision involving her character’s storyline.
Following the news, fans reacted strongly to Dr. Samira Mohan not returning to the series. Ganesh revealed that she was overwhelmed by the fan support after her exit from The Pitt was confirmed.
Speaking to PEOPLE at the 2026 Gold Gala in downtown Los Angeles, Ganesh said, “I was like, oh my gosh, I can’t believe this many people feel so strongly about this character because I feel so strongly about her and I love her.”
Ganesh also spoke about how much she appreciated the fans who connected with Samira throughout the series. She said, “I’m just going to miss the fans and I just adore how much they love Samira. I think she’s always going to have a place in their hearts for the reasons that they love her.”
Ganesh further teased that she is currently working on several upcoming projects. “There’s a couple things on the pipeline.” The actress continued, “I don’t want to say anything just yet, just because I feel like the producer… It’s a big secret.”
She later added, “Well, yeah, I got to wait for other people to announce things, I guess. But yeah, I mean just so many great opportunities out there that I’m all very excited that everything’s coming across my desk.”
