Hugh Jackman’s Oscar-Nominated Movie To Stream on Netflix After Peacock

Netflix subscribers will be able to stream a 2025 musical starring Hugh Jackman on the platform from next month. Based on a true story, the Oscar-nominated film tells the heartwarming yet tragic tale of two struggling performers.

Song Sung Blue arrives on Netflix in June

Netflix will add Song Sung Blue to its catalog on Saturday, June 13th (via What’s on Netflix).

It follows Mike Sardina and Claire Cartwright, two struggling Milwaukee performers who bond over their love for Neil Diamond songs. Together, they form a tribute duo called Lightning and Thunder and gradually rise to success, performing at major concerts and events. However, their success is short-lived due to a tragic incident that strains their relationship.

Song Sung Blue is a feature-length adaptation of Greg Kohs’ documentary of the same name. Meanwhile, Craig Brewer directed the film and wrote its screenplay. The film’s cast features Hugh Jackman as Mike, Kate Hudson as Claire, Michael Imperioli as Mark, Ella Anderson as Rachel, and King Princess as Angelina, among others.

The film debuted at the 2025 AFI Film Festival on October 26. Focus Features distributed it in the United States, while Universal Pictures handled its international distribution. The film was then released in theaters on December 25, 2025.

Critically, Song Sung Blue received favorable reviews from critics and audiences, earning high scores across multiple review sites. On Rotten Tomatoes, based on over 200 critics’ ratings, it has an average score of 77%. The audience, on the other hand, has rated it 97%. On IMDb, over 25,000 users have rated it 7.2 out of 100.

At the box office, Song Sung Blue went on to make $58.2 million from global markets. It reportedly had a $30 million budget, which makes the film a commercial success as well. At the 2026 Oscars, Hudson received a nomination for her portrayal of Claire, though she lost it to Jessie Buckley.
