Avengers 4 Rerelease To Give Endgame 1 Thing It Never Got – Report

The upcoming Avengers: Endgame rerelease will reportedly correct one of the 2019 blockbuster’s most notable absences, giving audiences a new reason to stay in their seats ahead of Avengers: Doomsday‘s December debut.

Avengers: Endgame rerelease to add a post-credits scene for Doomsday setup

The upcoming Avengers: Endgame rerelease will feature new footage bridging the gap to Avengers: Doomsday. Scooper MyTimeToShineHello reported, “For the rerelease of Avengers Endgame they will add a new post credits scene (Endgame didn’t have any post credits scenes before) to tease Doomsday.” The rerelease arrives in theaters on September 25.

Filmmaker Joe Russo confirmed the additions at the Sands Film Festival in Scotland. He told Deadline, “It’s critically important to re-release the movie, and, in fact, we’ll be re-releasing the film with footage that is set in the Doomsday story that we have added to Avengers: Endgame.” Russo described the rerelease as a “critical companion story” and a “setup for what you’re gonna watch in December when you see Avengers: Doomsday.”

Russo explained the creative reasoning behind the decision in further detail. He stated, “It’s an opportunity to create a bridge from Endgame to Doomsday in a very unique way.” He continued, “You don’t always get the chance to re-release because it costs money, so the fact that we can enhance the story of Doomsday by bridging it to Endgame and these characters that we worked with for years that we love so much, and continue their story: It’s a really unique opportunity.”

Russo also discussed Robert Downey Jr.’s return as villain Dr. Doom. He revealed, “Downey started contemplating his return about 2 years ago, maybe 2.5 years ago.” The director added, “The concept was for him to play the ultimate villain. He played the ultimate hero, and now he’s going to play the ultimate villain.”

Avengers: Doomsday and Endgame both star Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans, Chris Hemsworth, and Anthony Mackie. The Russo Brothers serve as the directors of Avengers 4 and 5. The upcoming Avengers outing is slated to release on December 18.
