Frankly, such a beyond-hilarious prank was totally unexpected.

Chiefs celebrate April Fools with ‘Andy Reid disguise’ costume prank

With this unique costume, which was offered over X (formerly Twitter), the Kansas City Chiefs were basically seen inviting fans to dress up as their iconic head coach with the caption, “Introducing the highly requested Andy Reid Disguise! Now you can rock Big Red’s signature look on gamedays, for Halloween, or just around your house. Secure yours now for the low price of $15.87 before they’re gone.”

Wondering what made the look so special? Well, it was instantly recognisable and hilariously on-brand. It featured a loud Hawaiian shirt, sassy sunglasses, and of course, that signature Reid-coded moustache. The joke leaned into his larger-than-life persona, which has become a fan favorite. He’s practically a character in his own right, and so, the idea of fans “disguising” themselves as him felt just oddly perfect enough.

The internet quickly caught on to the joke, with some fans even chiming in about how they would absolutely buy the costume if it were real. Some even joked that they already owned this without realizing it. In fact, one of them even commented, “U should make this real so u look at the crowd and it’s just Andy!” Meanwhile, another super fan exclaimed, “It’s everything I ever wanted, thank you! <3” Overall, it’s quite safe to say that the team’s gasp-worthy prank was a proper success, and it left a costume on the minds of fans that we might see popping up around Halloween!
