Lauren Conrad Finally Reveals Why She Left The Hills & Reality TV

Lauren Conrad, who made a big splash with revolutionary reality shows Laguna Beach and its spinoff, The Hills, moved away from the spotlight. Lauren Conrad, who rose to prominence with the reality show Laguna Beach, and later drew even more attention with its spinoff, The Hills, now maintains a notably private life with little presence in the online sphere.

She finally got back in front of the camera for The Reunion: Laguna Beach, a 20th anniversary celebration of the iconic show, featuring other beloved members of the cast.

After spending her younger years in front of the camera, Conrad now focuses fully on being a mother and expanding her fashion empire. “I really appreciate private moments,” she told PEOPLE.

After spending decades in Los Angeles, she has now returned to her hometown, which offers her an additional layer of privacy. “Nobody cares who I am here,” Lauren said, “It’s such a privilege to be able to live my life for myself after putting many years on camera.”

While she did become a renowned TV personality, Conrad explained that, for her, it was always a stepping stone and not the final destination. She claimed that she always wanted to launch her fashion collection, and television fame was simply her way of getting attention for her venture.

“I always looked at reality TV as a temporary thing to make my connections and then go on to my dream,” she explained. She also shared how, when she was originally asked about Laguna Beach, she asked her father for advice. “He was like, ‘A lot of people who work in entertainment also work in fashion. This could be a really good opportunity for you,’” she recalled.

After her stint back on camera for a while, Lauren Conrad is already looking forward to retreating to her private life. “I feel very settled and happy,” she said, “I just feel grateful right now.”
