With her extensive experience in daytime drama, the Swedish-born actress is now joining the cast of Days of Our Lives, bringing her immense talent to the iconic soap opera.

Sofia Mattsson is stepping into the spotlight in Salem, bringing her captivating charm to NBC’s Days of Our Lives.

Days of Our Lives broke the news in a sweet Instagram post. They shared a photo of Mattsson outside her dressing room with the caption, “Sofia Mattsson is making her way to Salem early next year!”

The announcement of Sofia Mattsson’s joining Days of Our Lives has sparked a significant response from fans. “Sasha is missed on GH but DAYS secured a good one,” wrote a soap opera enthusiast. “No you can’t leave GH,” complained another. “She’s giving me Ciara vibes!” speculated an anticipating fan.

Mattsson’s stint as Sasha Gilmore wrapped up last summer in July 2025. Her character left Port Charles with baby Daisy, heading to Paris to be with her parents, Holly and Robert. With Steve Burton’s Jason Morgan helping them escape, Sasha got a heartfelt sendoff, and Jason even leaves the door open for her return. His parting words were, “You’ll always have a home to come back to.”

Last year, a General Hospital representative had told TVInsider it was a good time in the storyline for Sofia Mattsson to explore other film and TV opportunities.

Mattsson had indicated at the time that she is definitely not opposed to returning to the soap opera world. She teased that she had some exciting new projects in the works and hoped to see everyone soon through another screen.

Sofia Mattsson is slated to debut on DOOL in 2027, though her character is yet to be revealed.
