Pope Leo Seemingly Called Out Donald Trump in New Message

Pope Leo XIV recently delivered a message on the war between the US and Iran and seemingly called out Donald Trump. Trump launched the joint military operation with Israel against Iran at the end of February 2026. Previously, Trump also hinted at negotiations with Iran, but the latter denounced the claims.

Pope Leo has a message on Iran war

Pope Leo recently spoke at the Sunday Mass in St. Peter’s Square, where he shared his take on the Iran war and seemingly slammed Donald Trump for his decision.

The Pope referred to a passage from the Bible and asserted, “Brothers and sisters, this is our God: Jesus, King of Peace, who rejects war, whom no one can use to justify war. He does not listen to the prayers of those who wage war, but rejects them” (via The Hill).

Previously, according to a report by AP News, Defense Secretary Peter Hegseth delivered a speech at a Christian service at the Pentagon, in which he justified the war. He asserted, “Every month it is fitting to be right here. All the more fitting this month, at this moment, given what tens of thousands of Americans are doing right now. Let every round find its mark against the enemies of righteousness and our great nation. Give them wisdom in every decision, endurance for the trial ahead, unbreakable unity, and overwhelming violence of action against those who deserve no mercy.”

It is not the first time the Pope has called out the US-Iran war. He took to X (formerly known as Twitter) and called on the parties involved to use dialogue, rather than weapons, to resolve their conflicts. He stated, “Stability and peace are not achieved through mutual threats, nor through the use of weapons, which sow destruction, suffering, and death, but only through reasonable, sincere, and responsible dialogue.”
