New Idea recently reported that Keith Urban took a small job performing earlier this month on the Top Shelf Country Cruise, a Bahamas-bound trip where artists entertain passengers during the voyage. The cruise reportedly hosts around 1,100 guests, a far cry from the big crowds Urban usually plays to.
A source told the outlet that the cruise booking was particularly unusual, not just for Urban’s reputation as a touring act, claiming, “It’s the kind of gig that Keith would have turned his nose up at during his marriage to Nicole Kidman.”
The source further suggested it was more about keeping a routine, telling the outlet, “Cruise ships are not exactly the dream gig, but they pay the bills – and it gives Keith something to focus on,” adding, “He’s trying to stay busy now that his divorce is finalised.”
Urban and Kidman finalized their divorce on January 6 after 19 years of marriage. Since then, Urban has kept working, and the source claimed, “He’s quietly taking on any available work right now to keep busy,” adding, “and it doesn’t hurt that these gigs help to keep his cash flow steady too.”
The source added that the cruise ship performances will ideally be a stop on the road to his next chapter sometime in the “latter part of this year.”
