Despite the alleged royal link, the Gyllenhaal duo was born and brought up in Los Angeles. However, their father is said to be a descendant of the Swedish noble family.
Jake and Maggie Gyllenhaal reportedly share ties with Britain’s royal family
Jake and Maggie Gyllenhaal could reportedly be linked to the British royal family. According to RadarOnline, genealogists claimed that the Hollywood siblings might be the late Queen Elizabeth II’s 19th cousins. They said to be distant cousins through “a shared family line” that goes back over six centuries.
Furthermore, the report revealed that the Gyllenhaal family might be connected to the late King Edward III. The young monarch ruled his country from 1327 till 1377 (the year he died). Reportedly, he had several children in European families, including the British royal clan and Gyllenhaal’s Swedish noble lineage. It would also mean that Jake and Maggie could likely be related to King Charles and Prince William.
Meanwhile, the actor siblings’ father, Stephen Gyllenhaal, is the son of Swedish-American journalist Anders Leonard Gyllenhaal. The latter was said to be a descendant of the Swedish noble family linked to King Edward III.
Despite their royal lineage, Jake and Maggie, who were raised in Los Angeles, rose to fame for their skills and art form. Their father is a film director, whose partners and children have been a part of the entertainment and creative worlds.
Meanwhile, Jake and Maggie reportedly didn’t share a cordial relationship from the beginning. In a recent interview, the 48-year-old sister shed light on their sibling dynamics. As Jake started working in movies at a young age, Maggie revealed that she might have been “in touch with the envy.” But now, their relationship has improved, and they have “never been as close as we are now.”
