Tyler Perry’s Beloved Series Is Dominating Streaming Competition

Tyler Perry is back in the spotlight as the latest season of his series continues to pull strong numbers on Netflix, holding its ground in a competitive streaming race despite fresh releases and ranking among the Top 5.

As per FlixPatrol, Beauty in Black Season 2 is currently sitting high on Netflix charts, recently ranking No. 2 after being overtaken by a BTS special comeback. Even with that shift, the show continues to perform strongly and keep viewers hooked.

The drama follows Kimmie, played by Taylor Polidore Williams, a struggling stripper trying to escape a dangerous life, and Mallory, portrayed by Crystle Stewart, a powerful businesswoman running a successful haircare empire. Their lives collide as Kimmie gets pulled into the wealthy but troubled Bellarie family, uncovering secrets and caught in the middle of a high-stakes power struggle.

The show features a wide ensemble cast, including Ricco Ross, Debbi Morgan, Amber Reign Smith, and Richard Lawson. Perry, who executive-produces the series, has emphasized blending veteran talent with fresh faces. He praised the cast, saying he enjoyed “working with the legends” while also spotlighting newer actors who bring energy to the story (via Netflix Tudum).

Audience response has improved over time. Season 1 earned a 61% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes, while Season 2 jumped to around 85%, showing stronger viewer engagement. The series mixes drama, crime, and emotional storytelling, which has helped it build a loyal fan base, especially among the African American demographic.

The show currently has two seasons, but it’s already been renewed for a third. Season 3 will also serve as the final chapter, wrapping up Kimmie’s journey with the Bellarie family. Netflix has teased an “epic conclusion,” and cast members have also hinted at deeper tension ahead. Crystle Stewart said the drama and power struggles will intensify, while storylines like Jules’ search for answers about his son’s death are expected to push emotions further (via EW).
