Donald Trump Is ‘Glad’ That Robert Mueller Is Dead

Donald Trump’s response to the death of Robert Mueller has drawn attention following a social media post made shortly after the news became public. The former FBI director’s passing prompted reactions across political and media circles, with Trump’s remarks becoming a focal point of discussion.

Donald Trump posts about Robert Mueller’s death

President Donald Trump posted on Truth Social following the death of former FBI director Robert Mueller, stating, “Robert Mueller just died. Good, I’m glad he’s dead. He can no longer hurt innocent people!” The post was made shortly after Mueller’s death became public on Saturday afternoon. Trump did not issue any statement expressing condolences.

Fox News mentioned Mueller’s death at least six times on air over the weekend but did not quote Trump’s statement or reference the reaction it generated. Most mentions were brief news updates rather than extended discussions. One longer segment on Trey Gowdy’s program discussed “the political origins of the Russia collusion hoax,” without referencing Trump’s remarks.

Fox News’ website published a report on Mueller’s death that included Trump’s quote prominently. However, television coverage did not include the statement. On Fox & Friends, the network instead aired remarks from former president George W. Bush, who praised Mueller’s service after nominating him as FBI director.

Other networks covered Trump’s statement and the response it prompted. CNN anchor Dana Bash said on State of the Union, “Trump’s comments should be shocking for anyone to say, let alone a president.” She added, “Not a surprise, but that doesn’t make it okay.” The comments led to panel discussions and broader coverage.

Fox News analyst Brit Hume responded on X, writing, “This is the kind of stuff Trump does that makes people not just oppose him but hate him. There was no need to say anything.” A Fox News spokesperson did not respond to requests for comment regarding editorial decisions.

Previous instances show similar patterns, including Fox avoiding Trump’s remarks after Rob Reiner’s death and limited coverage of a Wall Street Journal report involving Jeffrey Epstein.
