Lisa Kudrow has clarified that The Comeback will conclude with its third season, with no plans to extend the series further. Addressing speculation about a possible continuation, Kudrow and co-creator Michael Patrick King confirmed that the show’s creative direction does not include a fourth season.

Speaking during a press conference, the two were asked whether the series could return again in the future, especially given the long gap between previous seasons. Kudrow responded, “But it’s a trilogy,” while King added, “We’re not doing a quad-roly (via TV Insider).” Pressed further on whether that was a definitive decision, Kudrow responded, “Yeah,” with King also confirming, “Yeah.”

King also pointed to the long gap between previous seasons. He stated, “It took us 11 years for the key to show up, so come on. Lisa did make a joke earlier at some point. She said, ‘Sure, Valerie will be digital. She will come back all you want.’”

The upcoming third season, set to premiere on March 22, continues the story of Valerie Cherish. She becomes part of a multi-camera sitcom created using artificial intelligence. The storyline reflects industry concerns, with new episodes set during the 2023 Hollywood strikes.

Kudrow had previously explained that labeling the season as the final season was a deliberate choice. In The Hollywood Reporter interview, she said, “We need to say ‘third and final,’” adding that it allows the series to conclude without leaving room for further speculation. She also noted, “The most respectful thing we can do for the audience and for the character is make it a three-part story. It’s a trilogy, and this is the end.”
