The BBC has confirmed the future of two of its popular reality competition shows. The broadcaster recently announced new multi-year deals that will keep both series on air for several more seasons, extending their run well into the next decade.
BBC renewed The Traitors and The Celebrity Traitors for more seasons
The BBC has renewed The Traitors and The Celebrity Traitors with a new three-year deal that will keep both shows on BBC One and BBC iPlayer until at least 2030.
Outgoing BBC director-general Tim Davie announced the agreement during a speech to the Royal Television Society. The deal begins with The Traitors Season 5 and plans additional seasons through 2030.
The renewal ensures the main series will reach at least Season 8. The BBC has scheduled Seasons 5, 6, 7, and 8 for 2027, 2028, 2029, and 2030, respectively. The BBC will also continue The Celebrity Traitors with Season 2 arriving later in 2026 and additional seasons planned through 2029.
The Celebrity Traitors debuted on BBC One and iPlayer in October 2025, averaging 14.9 million viewers. Its finale reached 15.4 million viewers, making it the best-performing entertainment episode in Britain in nearly a decade, according to the BBC. The fourth season of The Traitors recorded a 12.5 million 28-day average audience.
Kalpna Patel-Knight, Head of Entertainment Commissioning at the BBC, said: “We are proud to remain faithful to The Traitors and The Celebrity Traitors until 2030 and wanted to say a big thank you to the outstanding team at Studio Lambert Scotland for bringing it to screen.”
Stephen Lambert, CEO of Studio Lambert, said: “The Traitors has become a genuine television phenomenon across the world, but especially in the UK, and we’re thrilled to continue the journey with the BBC.”
IDTV, an All3Media company in the Netherlands, created the format and developed it with the RTL Creative Unit. Studio Lambert produces the UK versions, and All3Media International manages global format and tape sales worldwide. The production films the franchise at the Ardross Castle estate.
