Jennifer Lopez recently shed light on her divorce from Ben Affleck, which was finalized last year. The Hustlers star claimed that she was finally in her single era and was happy with how things were at the moment. However, Lopez said it took her some time to reach this phase, and before she did, she had to take a break after her divorce.

Jennifer Lopez recently opened up about her split from Ben Affleck after their two-year marriage. Speaking to Good Morning America, the pop star and actress revealed that moving on from the failed marriage was difficult. She even took a substantial break after the divorce.
“I had to stop everything, and I took a year off.” Lopez told Good Morning America about the divorce, “I canceled tours. I decided to just be home and sit in what had happened without running away from it through work, through another person, through anything. Just sit.”
The actress filed for divorce in 2024. This came 20 years after her high-profile engagement to Affleck, which ended before reaching the altar.
“I was just at a point where I was like, ‘What is going on with you?'” Lopez shared, while reflecting on the situation, “Because I couldn’t blame anybody else. Because I don’t think that’s where the lesson is. And so, I really wanted to figure myself out.”
Lopez also revealed that she felt “free” on her own. She said this was especially meaningful because she had always been afraid of being alone. “I’ve always had a boyfriend,” she said. “There was always kind of, like, someone in my life, and many other things that I felt were out of my control. I have gotten to the point where I really trust myself and appreciate myself a little bit more instead of being so hard on myself all the time.”
J.Lo added, “I am happy, and I am healthy, and I’m grateful. That’s who I am today. And I’m surrounded by love, which is the best part.”
