Travis Kelce’s Reported Chiefs Return Comes With Taylor Swift Twist

Travis Kelce’s career was hanging by a thread over the past months as the Kansas City Chiefs star mused over the decision to retire, but it seems that his future wife, Taylor Swift, has inspired the tight end to remain with the club for another season before hanging up his boots. Here’s what he said about continuing his run.

Travis Kelce talks about Taylor Swift and Easter eggs

Travis Kelce toyed with the idea of retirement after a disappointing season with the Kansas City Chiefs concluded. However, now it seems that the veteran tight end is around for at least another season. His fiancée, Taylor Swift, has a lot to do with that, as per the NFL star.

During his latest appearance on The Pat McAfee Show on March 10, 2026, Kelce opened up on his decision not to retire. “We share the same love for what we do…and fortunately, we’ve had this desire since we were kids in our selective professions,” the tight end said.

He went on to hint that Taylor’s work ethic was one of the major things that inspired him not to give up on his career right away. “It’s just amazing to see her keep going to the table,” Kelce said, “Keep finding new things to write about. Keep finding new melodies and things like that. And on top of that, still seeing her have that love and joy in what she does.”

He explained that Taylor’s work and desire to work kept him motivated while he was trying to figure out his future path. “Something like that definitely motivates me to say, ‘You know what, I’m not done either. I still have some ideas in the back of my mind. I still got some juice left to play this game,” Kelce said. “So without a doubt.”

Host Pat McAfee pointed out that Travis ran into Chiefs’ offensive coordinator Eric Bieniemy. It made everyone wonder if he was going to stay. “The thing is, once I started dating Taylor, I started understanding what Easter eggs were,” Travis joked, “You started kind of just placing those things all over the planet, and everybody starts to catch on.”

He concluded that his decision to stay with the Chiefs was “short and brief.” He added, “The Chiefs knew where I was the entire time on it.”
