Iconic TV Show’s UK Version To Stream on Peacock

The British adaptation of an American sketch comedy show will soon be available to stream on Peacock in the United States. This gives American viewers access to the new version of the iconic late-night live sketch comedy series.

Here are all the details on the upcoming series created by Sky One.

Saturday Night Live UK will stream on Peacock

The upcoming British adaptation of the long-running sketch series Saturday Night Live will also be available to viewers in the United States. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Peacock has secured U.S. streaming rights for Saturday Night Live UK.

The program is scheduled to premiere on March 21 on Sky One and the streaming service Now. Under the new arrangement, episodes will be available on Peacock the day after they air in the United Kingdom. Its debut is set for March 22.

Liz Jenkins, chief business officer at NBCUniversal Entertainment, said, “Saturday Night Live is one of the most influential comedy brands in the world and bringing the U.K. edition to Peacock is a natural extension of that legacy.”

The British version of Saturday Night Live will feature a core group of performers. The cast includes Hammed Animashaun, Ayoade Bamgboye, Larry Dean, Celeste Dring, George Fouracres, and Ania Magliano, among others. Like the American series, the show will feature a regular ensemble of comedians performing sketches. Rotating guest hosts and musical performers make up the remainder of the show.

The project also involves several key figures behind the scenes. Lorne Michaels, who created the original American show, serves as executive producer. Daran Jonno Johnson leads the writing team as head writer. Meanwhile, Liz Clare directs the series, and James Longman is the lead producer.

With the British version preparing to debut later this month, this is the first official U.K. adaptation of the iconic late-night comedy format.
