‘No Less Honor’: Quentin Tarantino After N-Word Criticism by Actress — Report

Quentin Tarantino has reportedly responded to recent criticism surrounding his films and their use of racial language. The director addressed comments made by a Pulp Fiction cast member that revisited the debate over dialogue in his work.

Reports say Quentin Tarantino has responded to Rosanna Arquette’s criticism

Quentin Tarantino has responded to criticism from actor Rosanna Arquette about his use of the N-word in his films, including the 1994 film Pulp Fiction. In a letter obtained by TheWrap, Tarantino said Arquette disrespected him and the film. The response came after she discussed the issue in a recent interview.

Arquette discussed the issue in an interview with The Times while reflecting on her appearance as Jody in Pulp Fiction. She said, “Personally, I am over the use of the N-word — I hate it. I cannot stand that he [Tarantino] has been given a hall pass. It’s not art, it’s just racist and creepy.”

She also said the film was “iconic” but criticized the repeated use of the slur in Tarantino’s work. Arquette added that she did not look back positively on the experience. She also said she was the only actor who did not receive backend profits from the film.

Tarantino addressed the comments in a letter directly to Arquette, writing, “I hope the publicity you’re getting from 132 different media outlets writing your name and printing your picture was worth disrespecting me and a film I remember quite clearly you were thrilled to be a part of?”

He continued, “But after I gave you a job, and you took the money, to trash it for what I suspect is very cynical reasons, shows a decided lack of class, no less honor. There is supposed to be an esprit de corps between artistic colleagues.”

Arquette previously said many people regard the movie as a classic. However, she criticized the repeated use of the racial slur in its dialogue. She also said she did not receive a share of the film’s box office profits. Arquette attributed that decision to producer Harvey Weinstein.
