Donald Trump Faces Backlash for Playing Golf Amid Iran War

President Donald Trump has drawn criticism online after new footage showed him spending time on a golf course as developments continued in the ongoing conflict involving Iran. The images circulated widely on social media and prompted reactions from several political figures and commentators.

President Donald Trump played golf at Trump National Doral in Miami, Florida, on Sunday morning as updates continued about the conflict in the Middle East that began the previous week. A video shared on X by the account PatriotTakes showed the 79-year-old returning from a round on the course. He wore the same baseball cap he had worn a day earlier during a dignified transfer ceremony for American service members killed in the conflict with Iran.

Several public officials responded on social media after images of the outing circulated online. House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries wrote on X, “America is at war, TSA agents aren’t being paid and this guy is playing golf.” The White House did not immediately comment when contacted.

California Governor Gavin Newsom also posted on X about the president’s schedule during the conflict. In one message, he wrote, “A 7th American soldier is now dead.” In another post, he added, “But don’t worry, Donald Trump is golfing.”

On Feb. 28, the United States and Israel launched a joint aerial bombing campaign against Iran that killed Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and other senior officials. Iran then carried out retaliatory attacks across the region. On March 1, an Iranian drone struck a mobile operations center at Port Shuaiba in Kuwait and killed six American reservists.

U.S. Central Command later announced that a seventh U.S. service member died from injuries sustained during the attacks. The statement read, “The service member was seriously wounded at the scene of an attack on U.S. troops in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia on March 1.” In a video address on March 1, Trump said there will be more Americans who die before the war is over and added, “That’s the way it is.”
