Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem appeared before a Senate hearing on Wednesday, where she was questioned about her alleged long-standing affair with her adviser, Corey Lewandowski.
Lewandowski and Noem have been linked for nearly five years, with initial allegations surfacing in 2021. The pair were seen frequently together during President Donald Trump’s 2024 campaign. They have also been the subject of multiple tabloid reports.
Lewandowski and Noem are both married to other people.
In a now-deleted Twitter post, Noem addressed the allegations. “These rumors are total garbage and a disgusting lie. These old, tired attacks on conservative women are based on a falsehood that we can’t achieve anything without a man’s help,” she wrote (via Daily Beast). The alleged affair has been described in some reports as the “worst-kept secret in D.C..”
During the recent hearing, Democratic Rep. Sydney Kamlager-Dove directly asked Noem whether she had “sexual relations” with Lewandowski. “I am shocked that we’re going down and peddling tabloid garbage in this committee today,” Noem responded. In a follow-up question, she again replied, “I think the ridiculousness of this and the tabloids that you are quoting and referencing are insane.”
She further added, “And this has been something that I’ve refuted for years, and I continue to do that.” She did not explicitly answer the question with a direct “no.”
Kimmel later responded to the clip during his show. “How do you think this goes over when she goes home to her husband? ‘How was work today, hon? Anything interesting happen?’” Kimmel said.
He also commented on the situation while showing a photo of the pair from the presidential campaign. He added, “I’m rooting for those two. I really am.”
