A new interview with Project Hail Mary star Ryan Gosling saw a surprising twist when it turned out that the interviewer, Jake Hamilton, was kind of having his own Project Hail Mary moment in the desert, where he was stranded. He still went forward with the interview, leading to many questions from Gosling about his well-being.
Ryan Gosling’s new interview comes with wild twist
Jake Hamilton conducted an interview with Ryan Gosling about his upcoming film, Project Hail Mary. The film sees the Barbie star return to a space-themed role. However, the interview included an unusual development, as Hamilton was broadcasting from the desert rather than a studio setting.
“Good to see you again, my friend. How are you?” Hamilton began the interview, but Gosling appeared confused. Gosling asked, “Are you in a volcano?”
Hamilton responded, “Actually, I am in the middle of my own Project Hail Mary because I was rushing back from a tour of the Grand Canyon to do this interview, and we broke down on the side of the road.” He then picked up a rock and joked that he was on the side of the road with Rocky’s family, referencing the character from Gosling’s latest film.
Hamilton added that he did not want to miss the interview. Gosling remarked that Hamilton looked like Tom Cruise in Mission Impossible.
Hamilton attempted to begin the discussion by asking how Gosling’s experiences across three space-related films differed from one another. However, Gosling instead asked Hamilton, “Do you have help on the way?” He also asked whether he had water and food. During the interview, Hamilton revealed that his girlfriend, Iris, was holding the camera. He shared that Gosling asked Iris to turn the camera around and greeted her as well.
The interview drew attention online due to the unexpected setting, while Gosling maintained a light tone throughout.
Project Hail Mary premieres in theaters on March 20, 2026.
