Paul Rudd, Evan Peters & More Join New Movie, Filming Window Revealed

Paul Rudd is assembling quite the ensemble for his new movie. The Ant-Man star will lead an impressive cast in an upcoming dramatic feature from Oscar-winning director Tom McCarthy, and cameras are expected to start rolling very soon.

Tom McCarthy’s new movie with Paul Rudd begins filming soon

Production on Paul Rudd’s new movie is scheduled to begin next month. The untitled film, which Sony Pictures Classics will distribute domestically, has been described as a “darkly comic drama” with a surprisingly timely premise despite being set more than four decades ago.

Based on Nathaniel Rich’s book Losing Earth, the upcoming movie is “set at a beachside resort in Florida in 1980, when twenty experts gather for a weekend conference on a global issue that is starting to gain traction: the effects of Co2 emissions on the climate. The group of scientists, activists, and policymakers have one simple mandate from Congress — write a statement about what to do. Easier said than done” (via Deadline).

Moreover, Paul Rudd’s new movie brings together an extraordinary roster of talent. Joining the Golden Globe nominee are Evan Peters, Amy Ryan, Paul Giamatti, John Turturro, Tatiana Maslany, and Jason Clarke. This casting news, first reported in January, represents a reunion of sorts for Rudd and Giamatti, who previously starred together in The Mitchells vs. The Machines.

According to The InSneider, the working title for the project is currently The Statement. Peter Sarsgaard has also joined the cast, further bolstering what is shaping up to be one of the more intriguing ensembles of the year.

Tom McCarthy, who won an Oscar for Spotlight, co-wrote the screenplay with Thomas Bidegan and Noé Debré. The film carries a special dedication to the late Steve Golin, the prolific producer behind films such as Spotlight, The Revenant, and Beasts of No Nation.

With production kicking off from March, audiences can expect this Tom McCarthy-directed feature to generate major buzz throughout its development.
